Ring nuts
Ring nuts are nuts with a ring attached to the head. The internal thread is aligned so that a screw or threaded rod can be fitted to it. Ring nuts are made of steel or stainless steel (forged or cast). In forged form, they can be used for lever activities with the corresponding load specification. In cast form, on the other hand, the nuts are suitable for light leverage.
When is a ring nut used?
Ring nuts are often used for particularly heavy loads. The ring can be used to attach objects to the nut using a rope, wire or hook. These are often used in the area of transport securing.
How is a ring nut fitted?
There are a few things to bear in mind when installing ring nuts. The ring nut must have a CE mark because it is a safety-relevant load suspension device. On the other hand, the correct size and strength of the ring nut with the appropriate mating thread must be used.
The nut can be fitted by hand. However, tightening is quite difficult. Alternatively, a screwdriver can be pushed through the ring and used to tighten the ring nut. The screwdriver acts as a lever, applying more force to tighten the nut. To protect the ring nut, a washer should be placed under the screw head.
