Technical Data

Installation dimension Yes
Thread length lg 100 mm
Drive Hexalobular socket

TORX (from the English word ‘torque’) is the registered word mark for a screw drive profile, the standard designation for which is ‘internal six-lobe’ (English: ‘six lobe, internal socket’). With the six-lobe internal socket, the screw and tool are subjected to less radial stress than with the traditional internal hexagon, and consequently suffer less damage. Torque is transmitted more directly via the radial parts of the tooth flanks rather than via the faces of the hexagon.

Head Ø dk 15 mm
Drive size T 40
Shank partial threaded
Length / mm 120 mm
Material Case hardened steel

Case hardening is used to impart significantly greater hardness to the surface layer of steel workpieces and to improve their mechanical properties. Case-hardened workpieces are characterised by increased wear resistance, a tough core and improved fatigue strength.

Thread-Ø d 8 mm
Surface zinc plated blue

Blue galvanised finishes are produced either by electroplating in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4042 or by mechanical plating in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12683. For fasteners with a hardness exceeding 390 HV, there is a risk of hydrogen embrittlement during galvanising (electrolytic process). This necessitates specific measures (such as annealing), although these do not provide a 100 per cent guarantee against embrittlement.

Head shape Countersunk head
Core Ø d₁ 6.1 mm
Thread type Wood thread

Description

Description:

Screwing into hardwood without pre-drilling

Advantage:

  • straight reaming shank reduces insertion resistance
  • Time saving due to only one work step
  • Slide coating reduces assembly time
  • Underhead milling pockets for material-friendly countersinking
  • High strength thanks to specially hardened material
  • BlueWin 700+ - coating for corrosion resistance
  • Coarse thread for intensive use
  • Higher core diameter, thus tensile load capacity up to 8 mm comparable to a conventional 10 mm screw
  • New compressor tip (30°) for improved bite and reduced explosive effect

Application Area:

Rapid® Hardwood timber construction screws have a patented, straight friction shank, which significantly reduces the screwing resistance - as does the sliding coating on the surface. There are milling pockets on the lower head that allow them to be countersunk without damaging the material. This also makes the screw ideal for fastening fittings.

Application Notes:

Surface:
BlueWin 700+ (surface with greatly increased corrosion resistance: min. 700 h in the salt spray test against red rust)
