The bronze alloy for spring washers and discs is normally CuSn6 or CuSn8 with a tin content of approx. 6% or 8% respectively. It is the most commonly used type of bronze. Typical applications include connectors, contact pins and general stamped and bent parts and springs where good electrical conductivity is important. The spring properties compared to spring steel are limited.

The term plain indicates a completely untreated, merely oiled, smooth surface for all DIN and ISO screws such as wood screws, hexagon head screws, threaded rods, nuts and many types of washers.
