Drive Hexalobular socket

TORX (from the English word ‘torque’) is the registered word mark for a screw drive profile, the standard designation for which is ‘internal six-lobe’ (English: ‘six lobe, internal socket’). With the six-lobe internal socket, the screw and tool are subjected to less radial stress than with the traditional internal hexagon, and consequently suffer less damage. Torque is transmitted more directly via the radial parts of the tooth flanks rather than via the faces of the hexagon.

Material Steel hardened and tempered

Tempered steel is steel that is given high tensile and fatigue strength through tempering. The toughness is determined by the relationship between hardness and temperature of the subsequent tempering process. It is a transformation hardening in which the ratio of strength to toughness is specifically influenced.

Drive number T 20
Surface zinc plated blue

Blue galvanised finishes are produced either by electroplating in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4042 or by mechanical plating in accordance with DIN EN ISO 12683. For fasteners with a hardness exceeding 390 HV, there is a risk of hydrogen embrittlement during galvanising (electrolytic process). This necessitates specific measures (such as annealing), although these do not provide a 100 per cent guarantee against embrittlement.

Description

Advantage:

Improved benefits

  • Process cost savings of up to 40%
  • High over-twist protection
  • High breakaway torque
  • Increased load capacity compared to metric screws
  • Larger pull-out forces
  • Small screw-in torques, high preload forces
  • Compatible with metric thread

Supplied with:

Product availability (PV)
A Preferred types that are available from stock or at short notice
B Often from stock, but delivery times are possible
C May be in stock, but long-term planning is requiredD On request in connection with minimum quantities of at least 10,000 pieces

Application Area:

The thread-forming screw for light metals is the further development of our patented and proven SLS® screw. It was developed for use in light metal materials and other non-ferrous metals and is used for direct screw connections in materials up to a maximum hardness of 140 HB. The use of our S-trax maximises the strength of the connection and reduces process costs

Application Notes:

Optimised thread geometry
  • Optimised flank geometry thanks to asymmetrical flanks for improved material displacement
  • Conical thread core for optimum material pick-up
  • High flank overlap due to circular cross-section ensures high strength
  • Metrically compatible due to metric thread pitch
  • Grooved tip with 3 grooved surfaces ensures optimum positioning and good screw-in behaviour
