These steels achieve excellent strength through hardening and can be either soft-magnetic or hard-magnetic. Martensitic steels with a carbon content of up to 0.06 per cent and 3 per cent to 6 per cent nickel are referred to as martensitic-austenitic or nickel-martensitic. These grades are well suited to welding. These include the material numbers 1.4006, 1.4000, 1.4021, 1.4028, 1.4034, 1.4057, 1.4005 and 1.4029.
