What types of disposable gloves are there?

The main differences lie in the material of the disposable gloves. There are latex gloves, nitrile gloves and polythene gloves.

Disposable gloves can also be powdered. Powdered gloves can make it easier to put on sweaty or wet hands. They are also more comfortable to wear.

Latex gloves
Latex gloves have good resistance to acids and alkalis. However, they are permeable to oils and other solvents. When using latex gloves, check whether you can tolerate them or have a latex allergy.

Nitrile gloves
Nitrile gloves are more resistant to many chemicals than latex gloves. They also do not allow oils to pass through. However, nitrile gloves do not protect against all solvents such as acetone.

Neoprene gloves
Neoprene gloves are made of a strong and high-quality material with many advantages. Disposable neoprene gloves protect against chemicals and solvents as well as the effects of the weather. Neoprene gloves provide wide-ranging protection. They are extremely durable, waterproof and thermally insulating. With a neoprene glove, you have a reliable disposable glove that offers versatile protection.

The following tips can be helpful when using disposable gloves:

• Use powdered gloves if your hands are sweaty or wet. These can still be put on without any problems.
• Prolonged wear should be avoided, as maceration (swelling of the horny layer) can occur in the glove due to the heat and moisture.
• When removing the disposable gloves, you should take care not to touch your skin with the outside of the gloves. The following applies here: only touch the outside on the outside and the inside on the inside.
• Turn the gloves inside out when removing them.
• Do not use disposable gloves more than once.
